Web Software Developer

Ion is looking for an experienced web software developer to join its growing software development team.

Background to the Role

This role is ideally suited to an ambitious candidate who is keen to join a successful, established, profitable digital agency.  It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Web Software Developer to join an ambitious company enjoying a period of significant growth.

We provide a range of web based software products to clients, including an enterprise level email marketing platform and social media management tools to maximise online reputation.  In addition it delivers technical solutions as part of digital strategy implementation plans such as blogs, micro-sites and online applications.

The working environment in Ion is pleasant and friendly, professional and hard working.  Whilst third level academic qualifications in disciplines such as engineering or computer science are desirable for this role, they are not mandatory.

Job Description

• Translate layered designs into compliant XHTML and CSS
• Build robust online application functionality using appropriate technologies
• Have an ongoing understanding of trends in online application development
• Test, debug and release error free functional software applications
• Help with the authoring of system specifications as required
• Gain an understanding of customer requirements and translate into user requirement specifications as required
• Document all work into user manuals, source code manuals and wikis
• Use the version control system implemented within Ion

 Requisites for the Role

Essential Criteria

• 3-5 years experience in software development environment to include two of the following languages / environments: SPRING, Java, PHP, Perl, CMS system development (either open source e.g. Typo3, Joomla or commercial / proprietary), WordPress
• Exposure of web based development to include HTML / XHMTL / Javascript
• Exposure to full software development lifecycle
• Experience of relational database development and SQL / MySQL

Desirable Criteria

• 3rd level qualification in a computing related discipline such as software development / engineering etc
• Experience of Object Orientated development
• Experience of multi platform – Linux / Unix / Windows
• Experience of Ajax
• Experience of formal software development – IDEs / repositories
